5 Things Friday
A new swimwear brand, a summer dress try on, jewellery to lust after, and that's just a few of the things in this week's newsletter. Can you tell it's been a hot one?
Hello and it’s another week nearly over and finally the sunshine we’ve all been wishing has appeared and about time! I can’t believe it’s nearly the end of June and it's the first time we’ve eaten dinner in the garden, gone for an evening walk or been confident that it’s okay to leave the garden cushions out… living dangerously for sure! It has been a busy one in our family, with university pick ups, 21st birthday celebrations and family gatherings a many. So we took advantage of the good weather and the husband has been in absolute BBQ heaven! I’ve also made some work decisions, taken a theatre trip (f you get a chance to see The Kite Runner, it is excellent), organised my summer wardrobe (finally the dresses are out), and made a few tweaks to my jewellery collection.

A Spa Day Treat at Rudding Park.
It was my daughter Romily’s 21st birthday this week and, having already decided that her present was going to be some driving lessons, I thought we would have a nice little mother/daughter treat on the day at Rudding Park. Set in 300 acres of beautiful woodland, the spa is part of a luxury hotel. If you’re looking for a recommendation for a weekend away and want somewhere that looks like the Bridgerton set, then this is the one. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous (of course we had a little explore after our spa), and I’d come back just to sit on the terrace and have a cocktail. The spa is a separate building - all new but just as lovely. What immediately struck me was the space. Spas can sometimes feel a bit crowded, but Rudding has a lot of little hidden-away spaces, where you can come upon a sauna room or day beds and enjoy some peace and tranaquility or natter away undisturbed, if visiting with your girlfriends. We went for the spa morning, with body polish and massage treatment. I really recommend this; the afternoons and evenings are popular, but we arrived promptly and had the whole place to ourselves for the first hour! I went for the treatment that included a massage, and it was bliss. We left feeling all glowing and rested, and both agreed it had been a lovely treat.
The Best Mascara Ever? Well, it gets my vote
I was recently sent a few Nars Cosmetics products to try out. I’ve never used this brand before, but I’m always on the look out for a good mascara that will make my short and stubby eyelashes look thicker and longer. I do use Revitalash, the lash growth serum, and it has made a difference but they are by no means flutter worthy. So I wasn’t expecting the Climax Mascara to make much difference - but I’m so impressed. I’d say it's the best mascara I’ve tried! I’m no expert, but I usually find I need to use a mascara for a few weeks before it is the right consistency - they are usually too thin and don’t coat my eyelashes, but from the first use, the Climax was the perfect creamy formula which lifted my lashes. That, plus the small stubby shaped brush, which really helps to make sure every lash gets coated, and my lashes were for once looking thick and long… in other words flutter worthy!
