5 Things Friday
A mishmash of all the things that are making me feel cosy, comfy and content this week!
We’re somehow already halfway through February, how did that happen? It feels like the year only just began, yet here we are, with lighter evenings on the horizon and the first little hints of spring peeking through. I’ve spotted green shoots and snowdrops on my daily walks with Teddy this week, AND it was still light at 5pm, so I’m taking that as a sign Spring is on its way. This week’s 5 Things Friday is a proper pick-and-mix: everything I’ve been loving, wanting, watching and doing lately. Let’s politely ignore the grey skies for a moment and focus on all the good stuff that’s been filling this month so far.
1. Five February Faves
We’re toying with redecorating our bedroom and perhaps updating some of the furniture too. I decided the best way to encourage Mr A to get the paint pot out was to invest in some new bed linen.
I’ve fallen for the Brittany print from The White Company; it feels so fresh for spring and exactly what I had in mind. And, of course, I love a bobble, so the trim detail was a must. It ties in perfectly with the bobble edging on my bedroom curtains, which makes it feel beautifully pulled together.
Now all I need to do is choose the paint colour…
It’s the little things that make all the difference, and a morning coffee is top of my list on grey February mornings.
I treated myself to a new mug while I was in The White Company - simple, pretty and very cute. The perfect addition to my WFH kitchen table.
Talking of the kitchen table, Christmas may be over but I still love the ritual of lighting a candle. There’s something about it that instantly lifts the spirits at this time of year.
At the moment, the Citrus Mint candle from my favourite local brand, Meadow Farm, is taking pride of place. With its blend of lemongrass, spearmint and bergamot, it’s fresh and uplifting as I sit and tap away at my laptop.
Yes, I’m trying to be good… but have you tried the M&S Speckled Egg cookies? I know Easter is a long way off but these are so good I couldn’t wait.
I have to limit myself to one a week because they are just too gooey and delicious!
Cosy nights in are still very much on the agenda. I’ve been loving an early bath with my Laura Mercier Honey Bath. It’s seriously indulgent, smells incredible and leaves my skin feeling nourished.
Then, I’m working my way through my Christmas presents, and finding the L’OCCITANE Almond Milk Concentrate to be the perfect body lotion for these winter months.
I also treated myself to some Primark pyjamas; the boyfriend style ones are so comfy and stylish and such great value.
2. A Little Colour Injection
These grey February days definitely call for a little dopamine dressing. I’m usually fairly restrained, keeping my colour palette to a pop of red or a hint of green against neutrals, but recently I’ve been feeling a little more adventurous.
This week saw me mixing pink (one of my suggested colours from when I had my colours done) with burgundy and chocolate brown. It’s a combination that feels rich, warm and surprisingly wearable
I added this Oliver Bonas triangle scarf to my collection and I love the mix of tones. It’s bright and fresh, yet still cosy enough to see me through the February chills
The pink Jigsaw cashmere jumper was a pre-loved find from my local charity shop - a purchase I was very pleased with. There’s something even more satisfying about a pop of colour when it’s a sustainable find.
I’m also loving strong blues paired with chocolate brown.
I tried on this COS blue shirt (in a size 10) this week and adored the depth of the colour. Such a chic way to lift a darker winter base.
Of course, I also turned to Pinterest for more gorgeous colour combinations to inspire me for spring.
