5 Things Friday - The Autumn Footwear Edit
Everything you need to know about footwear this autumn, including what works with what - spoiler alert, there's not an UGG in sight!
Happy Friday! I’m currently making my way home after a week away in Kefalonia; more on that soon! A few weeks ago I had some really lovely feedback on The Basics newsletter and lots of requests for a similar one on autumn footwear. Well, this is your newsletter, so this week I’m serving up my take on the perfect footwear to wear from now until we’re back in sandals… let’s not think how long that will be.
You loved the video format so I thought I’d take you through what’s in my wardrobe for autumn and what I wear with different items. And, of course, I’ll cover the wide leg trousers / footwear dilemma that loads of you asked about.
1. Mary Jane flats
It’s only in the last few years that I’ve been wearing this style of shoe, but it has become a firm favourite when it comes to comfort. They’re a simple move from sandals and work well over the summer months too - especially in our climate. I don’t think any of my pairs are still available, but if you’re looking for some leopard ones these from Cos look fabulous
John Lewis does this style in various colours, but gold for Christmas party dressing would be nice (apologies for using the C word in October!).
And Boden are always good for various prints and colours in this style.
2. Trainers
Where would we be without trainers these days? They are my most worn style of shoe, particularly in autumn and spring, but I never put them away as they get worn all year. My favourites are the Adidas Spezials, of which I have a few! If you’re not into Adidas, my Veja trainers (good selection at Coggles) are my most comfortable, and I still love this style. The high street has a good offering too. M&S always seems to have some very similar styles to what’s on trend and Boden is always good for colourful options. It’s pretty tricky to find much in stock with Adidas, but I’ve created a little edit of some of my favourite styles here.
The rest of the newsletter is for paid subscribers. For less than £1 a week you can gain access to the whole newsletter, join the community chat, read travel reviews (Kefalonia coming soon!)and read subscriber only pieces. It’s worth it, and you get to support my work on here…thank you!
