5 Things Friday - The High Street Edit
My top ten of M&S's Spring New Collection and some Ways To Wear.
This week’s email is a long one, mostly due to pictures. Don’t forget to press download entire message on your email if you’re reading this in gmail as it may be truncated.
M&S has really been on fire lately, and the new spring collection is one of their best yet. They seem to have covered all our fashion needs with some great basics, on-trend stand out pieces and fabulous accessories that could easily be mistaken for designer. So, in a little change to the usual High Street Edit, rather than listing 20 items you might want to buy, I’m giving you 10 and then styling up my favourite three in two ways. Why? Well, because I always encourage choosing items that work hard for you. I’m a repeat wearer and I love to choose key pieces that can be worn in a variety of situations. No buying something that’s just for a night out when you only go out once a month! So, first off, here’s my top ten of what’s new in…
#1 A Linen Blend Longline Trench can be a great classic addition to your wardrobe. Looking for something to throw over your event outfit this summer? A linen trench adds a much-needed layer and sorts out that occasion wear dilemma of what to wear over your outfit if it's chilly.
#2 I love inexpensive fun sunglasses; they add a little joy to an outfit as well as hiding the eyebags. M&S always has a great selection and these green ones caught my eye.
#3 I bought the red version of this bag. It’s really good quality and a fab price. It is also available in black, but this orange version would be great for a sunny pop of colour.
#4 I love the fresh look of this striped top, which would be such a useful addition to your spring wardrobe. I advise sizing up - I always find M&S tops quite snug.
#5 This style of bag is my go-to for style and it’s so practical for every day and travel. It looks very similar to the Cos one, but is a fraction of the price.
#6 It's always a good idea to have a pair of sandals to chuck in your suitcase that will take you from day to night. These gold strappy ones would cover you for summer holiday nights out and will also come in handy at home to add a little glamour to your outfits
#7 I love a neutral linen blazer in spring. They can be so versatile for both casual and wearing out and are a great way to bring an outfit together. This relaxed style one is a blend, which I always feel is a better option if you don’t like the creasing - and who does? I love the whole set, which includes waistcoat, and matching trousers too!
#8 I tried these Linen Rich wide leg trousers just this week! They’re flattering for pear shapes, with their minimal pleats. The colour is a more wearable off white and, unlike many white trousers, I couldn’t see the pocket lining or my underwear showing through! I bought a 14R. They come in black too, which I then went home and ordered - the fit was so good.
#9 The shoulder detail makes this little blouse perfect. A great fit to balance out your hips if you’re pear shaped. I would wear it with a simple pair of black linen trousers and those gold sandals.
#10 Finally, this is the perfect summer dress; cotton, pockets, ideal length and 100% cotton! What's not to love?
Picking just ten out of the new Spring collection was so hard, but now I've chosen, this is how I’d style my favourite three...
