5 Things Friday - The Summer Event Edit
Event season is here and with it comes a host of dilemmas on what to wear! No need to panic, I've covered all eventualities with my What To Wear guide
Last week’s chat included a request for some inspiration for summer events; whether parties, weddings or graduations. I love any excuse to dress up, and don’t get enough opportunities to crack out the pretty dresses or sequins. However, I know that with any special occasion, there is so much to consider in order to feel your best and, for many of us, it can cause some anxiety! I’ve picked some of my most asked dilemmas to help with any trouble shooting for that special day… or evening!
First up, after a lot of internet scrolling, my favourite picks of what’s on the high street. I’ve put them into a helpful price category, linked on my LTK and below.
1. What to wear if I don’t like my arms?
We all have our body hang ups and bits we don’t like, and not wanting to show our upper arms is something that many of us experience, especially as we get older. Despite this the high street is teaming with strappy dresses, and finding something that covers our arms but is still flattering (and not frumpy) is really difficult. I had a look myself recently and found a few gems here.
1.Monsoon Satin Ruffle dress/Phase Eight gold sandals 2. Boden Emerald Green dress/Phase Eight gold clutch/Boden block heel sandals/Gold pearl earrings 3. Cos bow-detail dress/Mango kitten heels/John Lewis gold cuff/A Emery Sandals/Mint Velvet Clutch
2. What to wear if I don’t like dresses?
One of the hardest things about dressing for a special event is to feel like our true selves and be comfortable in our choices. If you’re not someone who feels comfortable in a floaty feminine dress then DO NOT wear one. There are far fewer conventions surrounding dressing for events nowadays, and often the person who keeps to their personal style and feels comfortable is the one who stands out from the crowd, for all the right reasons. It’s always good to check with your hosts, especially if it’s something like a wedding, but in general people are far more relaxed with any requirements.
1.Cos cotton jacket/trousers/H&M cami/Kurt Geiger heels/Mint Velvet clutch 2.Mint Velvet jacket/trousers/Sezane block heels/Roseings headband/ 3.Ralph Lauren jumpsuit/Missoma pearl earrings/Phase Eight clutch/Phase Eight heels.
