5 Things Friday - The Travel Edit
My Travel Bag Essentials, and 4 Great Looks So You Can Travel in Style.
Is it just me who spends more time mulling over my travel outfit than the outfits I'll wear when I'm actually there? I mean, there is so much to consider. No 1 for me is always, will I be too hot / too cold? I live in the UK, so nine times out of 10 I’ll be leaving somewhere cold and rainy to arrive in (hopefully) blistering heat! And can we discuss the air conditioning on flights these days? Last time I thought I was suffering frostbite, and on a previous flight I thought I would expire, it was so hot. Add to that the need for comfortable clothes, but wanting to look a little stylish at the same time… these are the things that can keep a girl up at night! So that you dont have to experience the same dilemmas, I’ve come up with 4 looks I think cover every eventuality, and I've also thrown in my travel bag essentials - because that’s a whole other consideration!
Look No 1 - The City Break
M&S Denim Jacket, Uniqlo Trousers, Ganni Hat, Uniqlo Bag, H&M Silk Blend Tee, M&S Sandals.
This is my kinda look for when I’m going on a European city break. I want to arrive and be able to wear the outfit for the rest of the day, so I go for light layers and comfortable shoes. I nearly always choose a denim jacket to wear for a flight. The M&S one is light and stretchy, so perfect for travelling. If I’m too hot I can tie it round my waist and it also works for cooler weather when I’m on holiday. I really like wearing one colour (it keeps it simple) and black is always a good option so I don't have to worry too much about stains. I loved cargo trousers last year and wore them for travelling, as well as a multitude of other occasions. These are the Uniqlo ones I bought last week. They’re generous and have an elastic waist, so great for comfort. I bought a medium. I’ve added a light T-shirt, a baseball hat (it adds a stylish look as well as hiding travel hair) and those M&S sandals, which are very comfortable. The Uniqlo bags are my go-to for easy-to-access travel documents, and for wearing when I'm walking around cities.
Look No 2 - The Weekend Away
Hush Cargo Jacket, Baukjen Trousers, Artket Tee, Longchamp Bag, Sambas
I love a comfortable trouser and trainer combination. This outfit would be a great UK weekend away look and, if you're flying long haul, you’ll definitely need something comfortable for the flight. Baukjen does some of my favourite trousers. The Marian trousers are very flattering and comfortable. I’ve also heard great things about the Me+Em Travel Tailoring range and M&S do a good alternative. This season Baukjen bought out the Marjorie with a sporty side stripe; if they’re similar to the Marian, I take a 12. I got the Arket T-shirt (it’s a perfect off-white colour), then simply add the Hush cargo jacket, (love the cuff details) and some Sambas and you’re ready. I’m sure you're familiar with Longchamp bags. Stylish and practical, they fold down into themselves if you don’t want to use them once you’ve reached your destination - then just fill with duty free on the return journey!
