Invest. Style. Repeat - The Statement Coat
My new feature, where I pick one investment piece that will work hard in your wardrobe, and style it three different ways.
I’m spoiling you with a little extra post today. For this I.S.R. I’ve chosen the Rixo Milly coat, with a bit of my own interest at heart, as it was my Black Friday purchase.
While I probably have enough coats in my wardrobe, I didn’t have what I would consider a statement coat - a coat that is the outfit. And, seeing as I live in Yorkshire, and it’s pretty much winter for seven months of the year, it seemed like a good idea to invest in one.
I’d had the Arket leopard-print coat on my radar for a while, and it was even on my Christmas wishlist, but I didn’t feel excited enough about it - perhaps because I already have plenty of leopard print in my wardrobe. Then the Rixo Milly Bohemia Leopard coat entered the chat, and I fell immediately in love. The print really appeals to me: stand-out, but in a cool, elevated way, rather than a novelty or “fun” print. I feel like it’s going to stand the test of time because it’s… well, timeless, in its own bold sort of way. I also love that it works just as well for day as it does for night. I tried both the size 12 and 10 and decided the slightly fitted smaller size looked best.
It’s the most I’ve ever spent on a coat (or on any piece of clothing), even with the 25% discount. So, I’ve got to make it work on lots of levels. I would have liked the fabric content to be a little more premium, but now that I’ve got it, I actually love that it isn’t too heavy and it feels lovely and soft.
