The Summer Wardrobe Reset -Part 2
We've done all the hard work, now's the time to have some fun! Today, I'm styling up my Sezane suede jacket for late summer and beyond.
Happy Sunday! On Friday I promised you the second part of The Summer Wardrobe Reset… and here it is.
After all that sorting and decluttering, I had a good look at what my summer hero pieces were, what had worked hard for me and what I wanted to get more wear from before autumn comes and it's time for the wardrobe swap over.
So, looking at my screenshots I’ve not worn my Sezane Will jacket on many occasions this season. I bought it in October (when it came back in stock), so it was heading towards winter and I styled it with layers. I’ve not reached for it in spring because it rained pretty much every day from March until two weeks ago, then it was scorching! I want to make sure I get some wear out of it before it's back to autumn layers and I know some of you were thinking the same. So, now is the time to get some summer inspiration and pull a few looks together so that I can easily reach for it without having to overthink it. As I said previously, organisation is key. For the record, I wear the jacket in a Large, which is slightly oversized and means I can wear it with a thin jumper underneath.
I get my inspiration from Pinterest, Instagram and real life. It's generally easier to have a screenshot of an image, but if I see someone wearing something cool, I’ll ask them where it's from and compliment them! Everyone loves a compliment, even us Brits! I took a few screenshots of some suede jacket images recently and came up with this mood board, which gives me all the inspiration for the next few months.
So armed with the inspiration, here are my outfit formulas for now and as we head towards autumn.
Look 1 Jacket+straight leg jeans+olive tee+sandals+woven bag
A casual late summer look (any sign of heat and I’m out of my jeans!). Olive green is very much on my radar for autumn and is such a great colour to wear with tans, chocolate browns and navy. The tee is a heavy-weight cotton, so perfect for late summer. I’m wearing a large. I know everyone is after the H&M sandals but here’s an alternative.
Look 2. Jacket+burgundy tee+cream wide leg trousers.
Just changing up the trousers and adding a tonal tee gives a different look. Sezane is great for tees. I have a few and they are lovely colours and great quality. I wear them in a large, which is like a UK14. The trousers are last year from Jigsaw, but similar here.
Look 3.Jacket+black tee+linen trousers+slides+woven bag.
The classic all-black look but I’ve elevated it with tan accessories and gold jewellery. An all-black look is such a great base, especially in summer, and makes the jacket the main focus of the outfit. Giving the H&M linen trousers (I wear medium) top marks as my best buy this summer.
Look 4. Jacket+white skirt+logo tee+ Adidas trainers.
Getting some more wear out of the Mint Velvet white midi skirt (similar here), that we’ve all bought this summer, by adding my Adidas trainers. I’ve been surprised how much I’ve reached for this skirt - I mean a white cotton midi skirt isn’t that wearable in the UK, but by dressing it down and wearing it with trainers and an oversized tee, it’s become a real staple in my wardrobe.
Look 5. Jacket+cream trousers+trainers+Acne bag.
Wearing the jacket buttoned so it’s more like a shirt this time. I’ve added some old Whistles pull-on trousers and my Adidas SL 72. The Acne bag is one of my favourites. It’s so hard-wearing and versatile, with two handles, and is surprisingly spacious.
Look 6. Jacket+Arket wide legs+cream silk blend tee.
Last one and my fave - wide leg jeans. Add a crew neck cashmere jumper and this would work well moving into autumn. The silk blend tees are a great price and work well to soften a look.
Let me know your favourite look; personally, I’m leaning towards 2.
Hopefully, that’s inspired you to style your Sezane jacket on cool August days and moving towards autumn. Suede is going to be big this season, so if a jacket isn’t your thing, then you can still dip into this look with a suede bag or skirt. I’ve spotted a few other suede jackets already coming out and being snapped up fast! I loved the Cos one, which is already sold out, but this Massimo Dutti one is gorgeous if you want a shorter version. If you’re good at pre-loved shopping, you can get some gorgeous vintage ones from charity shops and vintage stores.
So, that’s a little added extra today for everyone. If you’ve enjoyed this week, and would like to support my work on here, maybe consider becoming a paid subscriber. I will be back next Friday with something a little exciting to celebrate my 1st anniversary. As always, thank you for your support,

Love those styles. My favourite two are the olive T-shirt look and the ine with the Sézane T-shirt (which I have). Still in 2 minds about buying this jacket; I find Swede is difficult to wear in this country as often wet. And not being able to wash it in case something happens does worry me.
Thank you Melissa - I bought the suede Will jacket after seeing you wearing it but unfortunately had to wait until late May before it came back into stock so I haven’t yet worn it. Your post has given me lots of ideas as to how I can get some late summer wear out of it ahead of the Autumn wear I was waiting for. It really is a beautiful jacket. Jen
